PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel lightning, corona and low frequency static energy protecting means and a method for an active antenna system using a patch/ microstrip antenna element. SOLUTION: The active antenna system having lightning, corona and low frequency static energy protection is provided with plural patch antenna elements 42, a feeder structure for operationally interconnecting these patch antenna elements and at least one conductive drainage line 75 coupled with the respective patch antenna elements. That drainage line is coupled to a common ground node together.
