The air conditioner is of "box" shaped construction and suspended from ceiling 5 by hanging bolts 4. It is of a known type of general construction with central centrifugal fan drawing in air being surrounded by heat exchanger 114, with the air being discharged through perimeter slots116. The position of decorative frame 170 is adjustable between at least two positions, by various embodiments disclosed. In the embodiment shown position A is selected where available ceiling space is relatively large, and position B is selected where ceiling space is more restricted and the air conditioner necessarily protrudes down through ceiling 5. This is achieved in the embodiment shown by hooks attached to the frame 170 being engagable with recesses of different heights on side pairs of the body of the air conditioner.
