METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RE-GENERATING TRACE OF EMULATED INSTRUCTION SET IN EXECUTING INSTRUCTION ON HARDWARE SPECIFIC TO DIFFERENT INSTRUCTION SET FIELD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for re-generating the trace of instructions from an emulated instruction set in executing an IA-32 instruction operating on an IA-64 machine 10 on hardware optimized corresponding to different instruction sets. SOLUTION: An execution trace buffer 40 is generated so that desired information related with an instruction can be maintained when the instruction is executed and retried (220). This system is constituted so that certain desired information valid for the debugging of a system 10 can be written in the buffer 40 when the instruction is retired. This information can include the addresses of sequential or branch instructions or the other related information which can be continuously and non-intrusively collected (220) at the time of executing the instructions. This information can be read (230) from the buffer 40, and outputted (240) in a certain configuration under the control of a machine as convenient to a user.
