PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system for detecting an abnormal state having occurred to an old man, who lives alone, or the like only by an inexpensive table tap without remodeling an electric product and a plug under use at present. SOLUTION: After an ammeter 103, a judging part 104 and communication equipment 105 are built in a table tap 100 and connected to the electric product under use at present, when the judging part 104 judges power consumption detected by the ammeter 103 is different from usual, the occurrence of the abnormal state is reported from the communication equipment 105 to a base station 109.
