Apparatus for deploying and stowing a mosquito net (10) includes a frame (14) which is intended to be located over a bed (12) in respect of which the net (10) is to be deployed. The frame (14) has the generally rectangular shape of the bed (12), with curved corners. The frame (14) is hollow, and has apertures (44, 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58) in its underside, which are entrances for cords (26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40) to enter the hollow interior of the frame (14). There are also two cord exit apertures (62, 64) in the underside of the frame (14). The apparatus draws the mosquito net (10) up into a stowed position by actuating the cords (26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40), which are connected to the base of the net (10) at selected points around the base thereof. The cords (26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40) exit through the exit aperture (62) and form a collective cord bunch (70), which is run around a weight (66), forming a loop (82). The stowing of the mosquito net (10) is effected by pulling one side of the loop (82), to rotate the loop (82) anti-clockwise, drawing all of the cords (26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40) through the interior of the frame (14), raising the mosquito net (10) to a stowed position. To deploy the mosquito net (10), the other side of the loop (82) is pulled, to rotate the loop (82) in a clockwise direction.
