Device comprises a tank (1) with a predefined reserve volume and a membrane (3). The point at which the reserve volume of fuel is reached is determined by a deformation of the membrane (3) which occurs when the fuel level drops below a certain level and the remaining fuel largely turns to gas. At this point there is a large pressure increase which is measured by a differential pressure transducer.
