An insulating material, especially a line of insulating material (10), is used for jamming between delimiting structures. Said insulating material comprises at least one first section (14) extending in the longitudinal direction of the insulating material, whose width corresponds essentially to the thickness of the insulating material; and at least two second sections extending in the longitudinal direction of the insulating material, whose width is greater than that of the first sections. The at least two second sections (16) have a fold-type cut (18) which extends in the longitudinal direction of the insulating material and which does not completely separate the second sections (16). The at least one first section (14) can be separated from an adjacent first section (14) or a second section (16) by means of a perforation line extending in the longitudinal direction or a separating cut (16).
