<p>Optical communication system apparatus (1100, 1200) and methods of operating an optical communications system are described, wherein a wavelength laser source (1360) is utilized to provide channel synchronization signals for the system (1000). The laser source (1360) utilizes a plurality of Erbium doped fiber lasers. The output of each laser is shaped with a fiber grating, amplified with an Erbium doped fiber amplifier, and multiplexed together.</p> |
