Sulfonated heavy metal complex mono-, di- and tris-azo dyes (I), mono, di- or tri-substituted by 5,6-difluoro-pyrimidin-4-yl-amino, are new. Sulfonated heavy metal complex mono-, di- and tris-azo dyes of formula (I), mono, di- or tri-substituted by 5,6-difluoro-pyrimidin-4-yl-amino, are new: D-Z n (I) [Image] D : the residue of a sulfonated heavy metal complex mono-, dis- or tris-azo dye; n : 1, 2 or 3; Z : a group of formula (II): Q : a covalent bond or a -N(RA)-, -CO-N(RA)- or -SO 2-N(RA)- group; R, R A>hydrogen or 1-4 carbon (C) alkyl, optionally substituted by halogen, hydroxy (OH), cyano (CN), 1-4C alkoxy, 2-5C alkoxycarbonyl, carboxy, sulfamoyl, sulfo, sulfato or phosphato; N(R A>) and N(R) : amino groups attached to a C atom of W or a C atom of a substituent on W; W : a covalent bond or bridging group; if W : a covalent bond, Q : a covalent bond. An independent claim is also included for the preparation of dyes (I).
