In an axial piston motor or pump comprising a rotary cylinder block (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), engaging a stationary valve plate (16) and having pistons 113 engaging a stationary cam-surface (15) through slippers 114 having inclined working faces 114a, each piston engages its slipper through part-spherical surfaces, and is secured thereto by a bonded elastomeric ring 121 or by a metal bellows. The hollow interiors of the piston and slipper are interconnected by a restricted bore 120 so that a hydrostatic bearing is formed between the slipper and the cam-surface. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown), the slipper is formed with a concave face engaging a convex face on the piston, and the restricted bore is formed in the slipper. |
