PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheets processing device and paper sheets processing method capable of improving a reading rate particularly to window envelopes. SOLUTION: This paper sheets processing device supplies the paper sheets P, such as postal items, by one sheet each, reads the sorting destination information stated on these paper sheets P and sorts the paper sheets P to prescribed sorting destinations in accordance with the read sorting destination information.
