PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve flexural rigidity of a pillar for a vehicle. SOLUTION: In the pillar for a vehicle, a closed cross section 7 is formed by connecting respective flange parts of an inner rail 5 and an outer rail 6 each having a hat-shaped cross section to each other with their opening sides faced mutually. A flange part 9 of a reinforcing member 8 arranged inside the closed cross section 7 and provided with a substantially hat-shaped cross section is welded to the inside face of the inner rail 5, while a bottom part 10 of the reinforcing member 8 is stuck to the inside face of the outer rail 6, and the reinforcing member 8 extends in the vehicle width direction substantially over the inner rail 5 and the outer rail 6.
