PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defective content editor for specifying a defective content such as defective position on a printed matter winding body, and a device and method for supporting a defective matter extracting operation for supporting the operation in a defective matter extracting process by specifying the defective content. SOLUTION: This defective content editor is formed by editing the defective content of a web printed matter on a one unit of print image so as to produce a defective edit image. A defective matter extracting operation supporting device comprises a printed matter inspection means inspecting the web printed matter based on a focused image and outputting the inspected data and a defective content edit means editing the defective content of the web printed matter on one unit of the print image based on the inspected data so as to produce the defective edit image. A method of supporting the defective matter extracting operation is formed by specifying the defective content such as defective position on the printed matter winding body by attaching the defective edit image print obtained by printing out the defective edit image to a sheet on the winding body so as to support the operation in a defective matter extracting process.
