<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing vanadium (III) oxide from a combustion soot of a fossil fuel, etc,. in a high purity, easily and simply. SOLUTION: This method for producing vanadium (III) oxide comprises the steps of (a) effecting a reducing agent in a state of suspending the combustion soot generated on burning the fossil fuel in water adjusted at pH 1-3 and then filtering to remove insoluble residues to obtain an aqueous solution containing tetravalent vanadium, (b) adding ammonia or aqueous ammonia to the obtained aqueous solution containing the tetravalent vanadium to adjust pH of the solution at 4.2-4.8 for depositing oxyhydroxyvanadium hydrate, (c) filtering the deposited oxyhydroxyvanadium hydrate and collecting, and (d) reducing the collected oxyhydroxyvanadium hydrate with hydrogen at a temperature of 500-850 deg.C.</p> |
