PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus reduced in production cost and enhanced in the degree of freedom of assembling. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus is equipped with the input gear 152 provided outside a side frame 17 to be operated in connection with the operation of a release lever 46, and the transmission gear 153 connected to the release shaft 53 extending inside the side frame and led out of the side frame through the bearing hole of the side frame to be meshed with the input gear 152. The apparatus is constituted so as to revolve the release shaft 53 through the gears 152, 153 in connection with the operation of the release lever 46 to make the follower roller constituting a paper feed structure come into contact with and separate from a platen freely. The release shaft 53 and the transmission gear 153 are integrally formed through a bearing part 157 having a diameter larger than that of the transmission gear 153, and the bearing part 157 is supported in a freely rotatable manner by the bearing hole 156 of the side frame.
