PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means which is capable of controlling the reactivity in a radial direction of a blast furnace by easily controlling the flow of the gases in the furnace and is capable of removing deposits as well and effectively utilizing waste polymers, the treatment of which becomes a problem. SOLUTION: This blast furnace operation consists in regulating the gaseous flow in the blast furnace to the peripheral flow in the radial direction of the blast furnace by blowing the waste fine-grain polymers of which the combustion position in the raceway formed in the blast furnace is below 0.5 of the raceway length or regulating the gaseous flow in the blast furnace to the central flow in the radial direction of the blast furnace by blowing the waste coarse-grain polymers of which the combustion position in the raceway formed in the blast furnace is above 0.5 of the raceway length.
