PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for feeding material into a sintering machine, which lightens the load of the worker merely by simply remodeling an existing device and besides improves the grain size segregation state in the height direction of a sintering material layer more than conventional one, and its method of use. SOLUTION: In a sintering material feeder which is equipped with a mineral supply hopper which temporarily stores the sintering material fed on a pallet, being arranged above the pallet of a Dwight Loyd type of sintering machine, a chain of feeders and feeding chutes which cut out sintering material and feed it onto a pallet, being provided under the opening at the bottom of that mineral hopper, and a belt conveyor which supplies sintering material to that mineral supply hopper, lying above the above mineral supply hopper, the fall position of the sintering material from the above belt conveyor lies in the vicinity of the wall on the side of the back stream in the progress direction of the pallet of the mineral supply hopper, and also the openings under the above mineral supply hopper are provided at the two places in the progress direction of the pallet, and each is equipped with a chain of feeders and feeding chutes mentioned above.
