HEATING DEVICE FOR AUTOMOBILE CATALYST AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for efficiently heating a catalyst at low cost. SOLUTION: This heating device is an initial heating device for an automobile catalyst having a process to draw out hydrogen and oxygen and store them by electrolyzing water loaded on a vehicle, a process to speedily raise temperature of a catalyst base material by speedily supplying oxygen and hydrogen electrolyzed and stored in a part of a front surface 15 of the catalyst base material 11 at a stoichiometric ratio immediately after starting to start an engine 21 and heating the catalyst base material 11 by reconnection by voluntary catalytic work of hydrogen and oxygen, a process to continue supply of hydrogen and oxygen to the catalyst front surface 15 at the stoichiometric ratio to raise the temperature of the catalyst base material 11 to about 300 deg.C while introducing discharge including CO and HC to the catalyst base material 11 by carrying out complete cranking of the engine 21 and a process to stop supplying hydrogen and oxygen at the time when the catalyst base material 11 reaches working temperature sufficient for the most suitable discharge conversion.
