PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more compact low pressure mercury-vapor discharge lamp. SOLUTION: This low pressure mercury-vapor discharge lamp 1 is partitioned by partition 3 inside a glass tube 2 and provided with a U-shaped discharge space inside it. Electrodes 5, 6 are provided on both sides of the discharge space and a folding part 4 is provided at the center of the discharge space. A phosphor film 7 is coated on the internal surface of the glass tube 2 and on the surface of the partition 3. A simplicial rare gas or compound rare gas is sealed in the tube of the low pressure mercury-vapor discharge lamp 1 in an airtight condition isolated from the outside.
