The disc is retained by clips around its edge, rather than by a central hub. The casing for a compact disc includes two square panels (1,2) which are hinged together. Both panels have completely smooth, clear surfaces, but one panel (2) includes retaining lugs for the edge of the compact disc. Along at least two edges (2b, 2d) of the supporting panel (2) there are resilient inwardly projecting supports (2e, 2f) which grip the edge of the compact disc. The supports may be elastically deformed in order to allow insertion of the compact disc, and equally to enable release of the compact disc when required. The outer edges of the casing, however, are rigid.
