PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor device having a memory provided with a peripheral circuit with versatility regardless of the combination of a storage capacity, the number of banks and the number of refresh. SOLUTION: For this semiconductor device, the memory for storing the various kinds of data is incorporated inside one semiconductor chip together with a circuit for performing the various kinds of signal processings. The memory is provided with a memory block 1 for which a block provided with the storage capacity of 1M bits and composed of a memory cell array provided with the plural pieces of memory cells is arranged for plural pieces corresponding to a set storage capacity and an activation circuit 4 constituted so as to correspond to the number of the blocks corresponding to the settable maximum storage capacity for outputting the various kinds of activation signals for activating the plural pieces of the blocks constituting the memory block 1 corresponding to the set storage capacity and the number of the banks.
