Levelling battens (1) are linked by fish plates (2). The plates are provided with levelling screws (4) inserted into floor plugs to adjust the battens to the desired height (16). A spirit level with a matching slot in its base is inserted on the battens to check that they are level. Horizontal (8) and vertical (9) slots in battens and plates respectively allow for the adjustment between the two and overlap to provide holes for pop rivets to bond the two.
