PURPOSE: A watch-type portable phone and a method for controlling thereof are provided to make a portable phone in the form of wearing a watch so that the old and the weak, children and the handicapped can easily operate key buttons. CONSTITUTION: A key input part(140) is composed of a menu mode key(140-1), a transfer mode key(140-3), and a setup mode key(140-5). The menu mode key(140-1) displays various menus, such as a phone number input menu, a call menu, a voice message input menu, a receiving confirmation menu, an alarm setup menu, a key volume setup menu, etc., through a display part(150). The transfer mode key(140-3) transfers the display data displayed on the display part(150) every key input sequentially and activates a sequential emergency call origination. The setup mode key(140-5) sets up desired data among the data displayed on the display part(150) and activates a selective call origination.
