Level-dependent pump control

One or more modules (8) are arranged on the outside of a wall of a liquid container and connected to a controller (10) for operating a pump (7). The modules transmit physical waves via this wall and detect the reflected waves. The region of the container where this takes place is made of a material that conducts the type of waves used. The modules are fixed at one or more liquid levels. A module may be arranged at a switch-on level, a switch-off level and an alarm level. Short wavelength electromagnetic waves or ultrasound may be used. An Independent claim is included for a method of operating the equipment.
