<p>A replaceable sensor for a subsea installation (1) measures a property such as temperature where direct contact with the medium is not necessary. A probe end (5) on the sensor fits closely within a similarly shaped sensing well (4) that protrudes into the medium. To enable the sensor to be installed from a remote location, such as beyond the pipe spatial envelope, it has an elongate member (8) that pushes the sensor along a guide tube from the remote location into the sensing well. The elongate member remains accessible to permit withdrawal and also serves as a conduit. The elongate member is preferably semi-flexible, enabling it to be stored and transported in coil. A carousel container for the sensor can be carried by a ROV and the sensor installed directly therefrom.</p> |
