PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device which enables the prevention of peeling between a coating material on optical fiber surface and the optical fiber for an optical fiber grating and efficiently producing the optical fiber grating. SOLUTION: The method for adding hydrogen to optical fibers for the optical fiber grating is featured in that the addition of hydrogen to the optical fibers is performed in such a condition that the relation between the pressure after elevating a hydrogen pressure in a high pressure vessel for hydrogen and the concentration of GeO2 in the optical fibers is plotted on the inside, which includes the border line, of a graphic surrounded by A, B, C, D and E shown in Fig. 2. Further, the device for adding hydrogen to the optical fibers for the optical fiber grating is featured in that the device is provided with a control function of hydrogen pressure elevating speed and hydrogen pressure lowering speed in the high pressure vessel for hydrogen. |
