PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical movement type young sardine sorting machine which eliminate the dangerous heavy labor of vertical movement work of a sieve using both hands on an oscillating ship in sorting of captured young sardines to be safe and light work. SOLUTION: (1) A horizontal leveling machine which freely longitudinally and laterally moves in such a manner that the sorting machine may be maintained always horizontal is mounted on the outer side of the machine so that the stable work above and in water of sieving may be carried out without spilling of the water in a tub by the oscillation of the ship. (2) A tensile spring is used in a shaft (2) to improve the shaft to a balance shaft so as to support the weights of the shaft (2), a sieve rest (4) and the sieve, by which the change in a speed when the weight of several Kg is vertically moved once or twice in a second by a small-sized motor is made smaller.
