PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter medium which is excellent in cake release properties, has satisfactory strength and is obtained by making effective use of a wedge wire. SOLUTION: A punched metal 7 is laid on a filtration bed 3b of a filtration plate 3 and a wedge wire 8 is stretched and disposed on the metal 7 so that the expanded wedge-shaped tip parts of the wire 8 are abutted on the metal 7. A slit 8a is disposed in the up and down direction of the wire 8 to use the slit 8a side as a filtration surface 8b. A scraper 23 is pivotally attached to a piston rod 20 of a cylinder 19 to lower the rod 20 so that the scraper 23 is abutted on the surface 8b of each of the opened filtration plates 3, 15 and 16. As a result, the cake is released along the slit 8a and the wire 8 supported by the metal 7 can be prevented from deformation. Since the wire 8 is expanded toward the rear surface of the metal 7 in a wedge state, a filtrate is easily separated.
