A gas heated water heater for supplying central heating water, comprises a heat exchanger 3 formed from finned tubes 4, 5, 6, 7 arranged in series or parallel on top of a casing 1 surrounded by a cooling coil 2 supplying the return water from radiator 14 and pump P to the heat exchanger 3. Domestic draw off water flows through an inner tube 11 within the coil 2 in counter flow to the return central heating water to be heated thereby. The domestic draw off tap (not shown) and the three way valve 15 in the supply line 10 from the water heater 1 to the radiator 14 are interconnected, so that on draw off of hot domestic water, the central heating water by-passes the radiator 14, through line 16 to return to the coil 2 in a hotter condition to heat up the domestic water contained in the inner tube 11 therein. |
