PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a surface coating agent which can form images of high quality with good ink receptivity and waterproof properties, by setting at least one monomer of each of styrene and α-methylstyrene, alkylester acrylate and alkylester methacrylate expressed by a formula, and α, β unsaturated carboxylic acid and its salt at a specific ratio, and setting copolymer components at a specific ratio. SOLUTION: The surface coating agent is a copolymer wherein copolymer components (A)-(C) are copolymerized with the following ration and is primarily composed of an emulsion of a glass transition point of 30-200 deg.C. The component (A) is at least one monomer of styrene and α-methilstyrene of 5-80wt.%, (B) is at lest one monomer of alkylester acrylate and alkylester methacrylate of 5-90wt.% expressed by the formula where R1 is a hydrogen atom or methyl group, R2 is a 1-22C saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branching aliphatic hydrocarbon group, and (C) is at least one monomer of α, βunsaturated carboxylic acid and its salt of 0.5-30wt.%. The sum of the (A)-(C) copolymer components is 100wt.%. |
