PURPOSE: A portable radio equipment is provided to recognize easily a display at a folded state even at nighttime and in a dark place, furthermore, to realize long battery life. CONSTITUTION: The equipment has a second housing(4) connected as an open/close housing to the first housing(2), a main display part(11) disclosed at the time of opening of the housing(4), the sub display part(12) disclosed irrelevantly to the open/close of the housing(4), a main light fixture(23A) and a sub light fixture(23B) illuminating respectively display the parts(11,12), a driver(24) alternatively selecting a supplying pass for illuminating electric power to the light fixtures(23A,23B), a detecting switch(22) detecting the open/close state of the housing(4), and a controller(25) controlling the driver(24) for supplying electric power, based on a detecting result from the switch(22), to the fixture(23A) at the opening state of the housing(4) and to the fixture(23B) at the closing state of the housing(4).
