PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely correct shading due to dispersion of a spectroscopic sensitivity characteristics in the read area of a read means. SOLUTION: A second correction for correcting shading due to the partial dispersion of the spectroscopic characteristics of a color resolving filter at each R, G and B based on a result obtained by reading a correction setting film is set and stored at each film type with respective blocks obtained by dividing an image into plural blocks as a unit. A correction value corresponding to the type of the film being the object of reading is taken in (156) and the correction at each pixel is obtained by an interpolation operation and it is added with a first correction for correcting shading due to the unevenness of light quantity (158 to 162). When the image is read at each color component, the correction of the color component for conducting reading is set in a shading correction part (166).
