The motor vehicle windscreen wiper has a wiping blade (18) with an upper section for hooking onto a wiper arm. An upper heel (30) of elastomeric material is reinforced by two longitudinal strips (14,16) which fit into grooves (34,36) on each side of the wiper blade. The blade has a lower wiping edge aligned vertically with the upper section. The blade frame (50) has lugs (52) at each end with recesses (60) to receive the ends of the strips.
