POLY(CARBON SULFIDE), METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME AND NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE CELL USING THE SAME

A poly(carbon sulfide) which comprises carbon and sulfur as constituent elements, most of the sulfur forming a disulfide bond, has a sulfur content of at least 67 wt % and a sum of sulfur and carbon contents of at least 95 %, and has a structure of high unity. The poly(carbon sulfide) is prepared from an organic sulfur compound having a polysulfide segment represented by - Sm - , wherein m ≥ 3, by removing a part of the sulfur atoms constituting the polysulfide segment of the compound. A positive electrode using an active material comprising the poly(carbon sulfide) can provide a non-aqueous electrolyte cell which has a high capacitance and also is reduced in the lowering of the capacitance due to charge-discharge cycles.
