The invention relates to an indentor the indentor tip of which is provided with an at least electrically semi-conductive surface layer. Said layer consists of crystalline diamond deposited by chemical gas phase deposition. The inventive indentor is used to measure micro-hardnesses and the coating adhesion of materials, for example in the determination of Vickers or Knoop hardnesses.
