PURPOSE: An electron gun for a color cathode ray tube is provided to accord focusing voltages of the G beam to center beam and to accord the R beam and B beam to peripheral beams, thereby achieving a good picture quality. CONSTITUTION: A color cathode ray tube includes three cathodes for emitting R,G,B beams, the first electrode(100) placed apart from the cathodes by a desired space and the second electrode(200) placed apart from the first electrode by a desired space. Passage holes are formed on the first electrode to pass the R and B beams being peripheral beams and G beam being a center beam respectively. Cave parts(101a,101b) and protrusive parts(102b,202b) are formed around the passage hole toward the second electrode. The width of the cave part formed in the passage hole for passing the center beam is narrower than that of the cave part formed in the passage hole for passing the peripheral beams.
