The adjustable staircase (20), and its method of assembling, comprises a staircase frame structure (42) that includes two opposed parallel inclined stringers (44, 44a) rigidly secured to a building structure (46), a plurality of pivot pins (40, 40a) having parallel horizontal axes partially inserted into each of the stringers (44, 44a) at equally spaced intervals (L) and having a protruding extremity (48, 48a), the pins (40, 40a) determine two parallel lines with each pin (40) on one of the stringers (44) having a corresponding pin (40a) on the other stringers (44a) to form pair of co-linear pins (40, 40a). The spaced interval (L) between two adjacent pins (40, 40a) is adjusted according to pre-selected run and rise of the staircase (20). The latter also comprises a plurality of step modules (22) including a rectangular tread section (24), a vertical riser section (26) and two vertical end sections (28, 28a) each supporting an extremity of both tread (24) and riser (26) sections on its top (30, 30a) and front (32, 32a) edge respectively and having an inclined bottom edge (34, 34a) adapted to pivotally engage the protruding extremities (48, 48a) of one pair of pins (40, 40a). Each step module (22) is fixedly secured to the stringers (44, 44a) after being pivotally adjusted to a horizontal leveled position of the tread section (24) so as to form a rough staircase used for the early stages of the building process. Finally, at the end of the building process, a plurality of covering up members (70, 66, 68) are fixedly attached onto their respective tread (24), riser (26), end sections (28, 28a) and to the frame structure (42) to provide a proper surface finish of the staircase (20).
