PURPOSE: An optical recording medium and a reproducing method thereof are provided to store information about a first usable spare area on the optical recording medium for being used in reproduction. CONSTITUTION: By a reproducing command, information about a first usable spare area is read for being stored in a recording player. Then, the reproducing operation is performed according to the reproducing command. In case of requirement of replacement into the spare area caused by a defect block, a replacement block in the stored first spare area is replaced. Then, a next usable spare area is stored. After completing operation of the reproduction, information about a first usable spare area is calculated for a next optical recording medium. Then, the information is stored in the optical recording medium.
