The adjusting device according to the present invention is applicable to control cables (1) made up of two half-cables (2, 3) which can be linked by means of a linking device (4) composed of two exterior linking bodies (12, 23) and two interior linking bodies (16, 27). The adjusting device (5) has coaxially arranged a stem (34) provided with retaining teeth (35) which form one of the exterior linking bodies (23), a sheath terminal body (45), a fixing jacket (46), a fixing ring (47) provided with retaining teeth (49), a thrust sleeve (56) and a thrust spring (57) which works under compression, all this so designed that the stem (34) is permanently subjected to a force directed from outside inwards.
