1,119,163. Tunnel Kilns. HOUILLERES DU BASSIN DU NORD ET DU PAS-DECALAIS, and SOC. D'ETUDES ET DE RECHERCHES POUR L'UTILISATION DES SONS-PRODUITS DE L'INDUSTRIE MINIERE. 2 Nov., 1965 [9 Nov., 1964], No. 46297/65. Heading F4B. Bricks of the kind having a proportion of carbonaceous material in the raw mix are dried in separate driers 4, 5, stacked on trucks and passed through igniting kilns 1, 2, the direction of travel of the trucks is reversed, and the bricks are sintered in a final tunnel 3. Hot gases from the final oxidising and soaking zone where the last of the carbon is removed are fed to the entry end of the igniting kilns 1, 2 and hot gases from the exit end of the igniters are fed to the entry end of the final kiln. Dampered flue passages, crown hot gas inlets, burners and hot gas nozzles and burners arranged to deliver into spaces formed on the kiln cap are arranged and interconnected so that the burning of the carbon and sintering of the bricks can be carried out without overheating, the hot gases from the kiln and igniters being used in the driers, in heat recovery systems or exhausted to atmosphere. The final tunnel 3 may be used above for small outputs.
|
