The laying element for a parquet floor has a cover layer(12) which has a top ply(15) consisting of wood and at least one inlay(19) differing from it and which forms at least a section of the cover layer. The edge(22) of the inlay adjoining the wood material of the top ply lies flush with the edge(21) of the top ply. The inlay is located at one end of the laying element and extends completely over the width. An independent claim is included for a procedure for the manufacture of laying elements for a parquet floor.
