The segments which contain hard material particles for finishing or separating hard or brittle substances are made up, in the direction of movement of the segment starting from the front area to the rear area, of segment modules (M) with alternating concentrations of hard material particles and/or segment modules with areas of alternating concentrations of hard material particles alternating at right angles to the direction of movement of the segment. The segment modules can have the same shape and the same composition of sintered metals or different compositions of sintered metal substances and hard particles.
