A surfactant for forming stable dispersions of rosin esters compatible with elastomeric latexes, the surfactant having the formula R1-R2-R3. R1 and R3 are each rosin (i.e., rosin, rosin dimer or a mixture of rosin and rosin dimer). R2 is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol-R4-polyethylene glycol wherein R4 is rosin (i.e., rosin, rosin dimer or a mixture of rosin and rosin dimer). The surfactant is prepared by esterifying the rosin material with polyethylene glycol.
