PURPOSE: A treating agent for peptic ulcer obtained by extracting Ulmus parvifolia Jacq. with an organic solvent or aqueous solution is provided, which has excellent anti-peptic ulcer activity with low toxicity. CONSTITUTION: The titled agent for treating peptic ulcer contains an Ulmus parvifolia Jacq. extract and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The extract is administered in an amount of 1 to 500kg per 1kg adult one time. For an example, 10L organic solvent is added to 1kg Ulmus parvifolia Jacq., refluxed at 40 to 80deg.C for 3 hr., filtered, concentrated and freeze-dried to give 150g extract.
