PURPOSE: A rotor position detecting apparatus for brushless DC motor is provided to reduce parts count and cost, and obtain a compact circuit configuration by detecting the rotor position through a simple utilization of neutral point voltage and single-phase current. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises the first integrator unit(110) for integrating a single-phase signal output from an inverter, and a single-phase current with respect to the neutral point detected through a serial resistance; the second integrator unit(120) for integrating a three-phase signal output from the inverter, and a single-phase voltage with respect to the neutral point detected through a parallel resistance; a mixer(130) for mixing the signal obtained by operating the signal output from the first integrator with a proportional coefficient(R), and the signal obtained by operating the signal output from the second integrator and single-phase current with a proportional coefficient(L); the first comparator(140) for comparing the single-phase signal output from the mixer with a preset first reference value; the third integrator unit(150) for integrating the single-phase signal output from the mixer; the second comparator(160) for comparing the single-phase signal integrated by the third integrator unit and a preset second reference value; and a position signal calculation unit(170) for calculating position signal by operating signals output from first and second comparators.
