PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guard arm device for a window having a compact shape, accurate operation and a machine frame for fixing the guard frame when the window is not in operation. SOLUTION: By the up and down motion of a knob 26, a linking pin 12 embedded at the free end of the guard arm 4 is moved in a paper surface direction and engaged to and disengaged from a guide hole 16 of a receiving member 13 in this type of guide arm device; by superimposing to the receiving member 13, and keeping a clearance capable of receiving a collar portion 11 of a free end of the guard arm to the receiving member, a gap for receiving the collar 11 of the free end of the guard arm is kept between the arm and the receiving member, a canopy member 17 covering the edge portion of the opening end of a slot 15 at the side not interfering with the guard arm is jointed to one body, as same as the canopy, a linked piece 24 jointed to the base end of the glass arm as one united body is restricted by the side end edge of the slide cam 6 and is fixed to the machine frame.
