PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a payment system using IC cards which combines a prepayment form with a post-payment form and can flexibly cope with the customer's using conditions. SOLUTION: At an IC card sale counter 1, a draw-out limit amount is divided into a prepayment amount and a post-payment upper limit amount and registered on an IC card 10 together with each using condition and detailed record. The discrimination means 23, 33 and 43 are started at a prepayment counter 2, a post-payment counter 3 and a payment counter 4 respectively to discriminate whether the card 10 is available for the payment from the prepayment balance and/or post-payment balance and the prepayment using condition and/or the post-payment using condition of the card 10. When the card 10 is available for the payment, the prepayment balance and/or post-payment balance of the card 10 is updated with an amount necessary for the payment and the contents of this transaction are registered on the detailed record. Then an IC card trouble processing part 5 takes charge of the trouble processing of the card 10 and an IC card adjustment center 6 adjusts the balance of the card 10 respectively. |
