PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display illumination device for camera which enables a user to check a mode when it is changed over to a remote control mode and does not drastically degrade a signal reception probability even if a remote control circuit receives the influence of noise. SOLUTION: The photographing information of a camera is displayed on an LCD 9 illuminated by an EL 30 of the display device for the camera. The illumination time of the EL 30 is set by a CPU 1 and an EL lighting timer 1a. The camera is set in such a manner that remote signal reception is made possible by the CPU 1. When the remote control mode is not set, the first illumination time is set and when the remote control mode is set, the illumination time longer than the first illumination time is set.
