PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of operating performance by suppressing a sudden build up of supercharging pressure caused by the build up of the oxidizing activity of a catalyst to adsorbed HC. SOLUTION: This device comprises a turbo charger for driving an exhaust turbine 81a by exhaust energy to perform a supercharging by an intake compressor 81b coaxial with the exhaust turbine 81a, a means 82 capable of controlling the supercharging pressure by the exhaust turbine 81a, and the catalyst 83 arranged on an exhaust passage on the upstream side of the exhaust turbine 81a. A judgment means 84 judges whether the non-active temperature area of the catalyst 83 is transferred to the active temperature area by the acceleration from a low load state, an arithmetic means 85 calculates the increasing amount of exhaust energy at the outlet of the catalyst 83 in the transfer from the non-active temperature area of the catalyst 83 to the active temperature area according to this judgment result, and a correction means 86 corrects the supercharging pressure to the reducing side through a supercharging pressure control means 82 when the increasing amount exceeds an allowable value. |
