SOLUTION: The multiaxial polarizer 1 contains dichroic substances and has different directions of the polarization axes (p) by the dichroic material. The liquid crystal display device has the multiaxial polarizer on one or both sides of a liquid crystal cell. The obtained multiaxial polarizer has polarization axes arranged in curved lines, concentric circles or radial lines with the polarization axes variable corresponding to the viewing angle. By combining polarizers both having radial polarization axes or one having radial polarization axes and the other having concentric polarization axes, the parallel relation or cross- Nicol relation of the polarization axes can be formed in all directions. Thus, the polarization axis can be rotated corresponding to the changes in the viewing angle of the liquid crystal display device.
